Football Win

The school's football team were triumphant in the local tournament on Wednesday this week, returning with the cup yet again. It's becoming hard to remember when the cup last left our trophy shelves near the main entrance!
Congratulations to the whole team.

Our first fixture was against Hellingly. We got off to a great start, with Calvin Jarvis getting a second-half hat-trick greatly helped by Issac Leckie setting up nearly all the goals. The final score was a very convincing 7-0.

The second match was the toughest match against Hankham. It was a 0-0 draw after a great all-round performance, helped by Luke Snashall our goalkeeper.

Next in the tournament we played White house. We got off to a great start by winning a corner. Andrew Anthony played it low to Louis Walder with him having a low blast it hit the goalie and it went in. After some excellent defensive work, Ryan Palmer passed the ball out to Isaac Leckie who hammered it at the keeper and it went in off the goaly's shin pad.

But unfortunately White House pulled one back. Isaac Leckie nearly cleared it off the line but ended up helping the ball reach the net. The final score was Hawkes farm 4 White House 1.

Next on Hawkes Farm's fixture list was Grovelands. Hawkes Farm got off to a great start with Luke Anderson playing it short to Andrew Anthony as he ran an amazing solo down the wing and pinged it in the roof of the net. Luke Snashall kept us in the game with some immense saves. After half-time, Connor Forde took a throw-in, Isaac Leckie flicked it on to Luke Anderson and he made it hit the back of the net. The final score was Hawkes Farm 2 Grovelands 0.

We knew our team and Hankam were on the same amount of points but we still had one more match to play. It was against Marshlands. We had to win by more than three goals.

We earned a throw-in that Andrew took and it went long to Issac who bicycle kicked it and a Marshlands player, thinking he was in goal, punched it away. Louis Walder took the penalty - and missed (woops!). Then, in the second half, Luke, Andrew and Calvin scored and just as the ref was about to blow Andrew scored another which made us tournament winners.

Luke Snashall was player of the tournament with some high-flying saves. We were delighted to have won the tournament once again!
