End Of Term

To mark the end of term, there was a whole-school assembly in the morning, with all children, staff and some governors attending. Selected songs from the Christmas productions and carol service were sung, and Mrs Cobb took, for the theme of the assembly, the origins of the Christmas cracker.

We break up for the Christmas holiday today. Term starts again on Wednesday 5th January, with an INSET day. Children return on Thursday 6th January.

Christmas Lunch

Children and staff had their Christmas lunch today.
St Mary's Church was, as always, packed for last night's KS2 Carol Service, with some families arriving over an hour before the start of the service. This year the church key had to be collected from the curate's house in St Wilfred's Green, rather than from the Vicarage, as Rev. Porthouse has retired and the church is still in an interregnum.
On Monday morning, a theatre group performed separate light-hearted shows for KS1 & KS2 as part of the programme of Christmas festivities.

Still galleries and webmovies from the two KS1 Christmas shows have been posted on the school's main website.

Also this morning, Year 6 travelled to Hailsham Community College to watch the secondary school's seasonal performance.

The school's fire extinguishers were all checked during the day.

Christmas Performance

Reception and Year 1 performed Humph The Camel, their Christmas show, twice today - once in the morning, as a Dress Rehearsal for the rest of the school, and again in the afternoon, for the first audience of parents.
They are performing again in the morning.

Tree Dressing

Today was Tree Dressing Day. All classes went outside to 'dress' the trees they had planted around the school grounds last year.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, Years 5 & 6 went to Herstmonceux to help plant trees there.
Also on Wednesday, Mr Thorn attended a meeting of local SENCOs after school.
The Senior Management Team met on Thursday and discussed, amongst other things, the programme for Inset Day in January.
