Class Trips

Both Year 4 classes spent a day at Michelham Priory this week - Miss Graves' class on Wednesday and Mrs Stockdale's class today.

Year 6 left this morning for their 4-day PGL action weekend. They return to school at the end of the day on Monday.

Next week both Y5 classes are spending 3 days each at Pyke House in Battle, with days out at the Whitbread Hop farm and Rye.

On Wednesday the school cricket team played against Grovelands and in an excting finish lost by just run. The decider in our annual best-of three will take place next half-term.

Newsletter & Staff Movement

Hard copies of the May newsletter have been sent home. As usual the newsletter is also available online:

In the newsletter the following staff changes were announced:

~Mrs Jo Vickers ? currently a Year 1 teacher ? will be retiring at the end of term.
~Miss Sarah Hines ? currently a Year 2 teacher ? will be moving on to become Infant Team leader at St Peter?s School, Henfield, West Sussex
~Miss Sharon Carver ? currently Year 6 teacher ? is also moving on to take up a post as Year 5/6 Team Leader at Greville School, Ashstead, Surrey.

~Mrs Hannah Sullivan ? currently Year 5 teacher ? will be on Maternity Leave from June. Her class will be taught by Mrs Round for the remainder of the summer term.


Year 6 children are bringing their bikes to school this week, to participate in cycling proficiency training...

Pre Visit

Miss Bond visited Battle and Rye with Mr Lowe and Mr Thorn, in preparation for the Y5 residential visit.

Miss Graves is attending the third and fourth days of her 4-day 1st Aid course.

Goodbyes

Year 4 bade farewell to Miss Thompson and Miss Soltis, who are returning to America after completing their final teaching practice at Hawkes Farm. They have now graduated from the University of Illinois and will be seeking employment in an American school.

It was also the last day for Mr Rayfield, a Modern Languages post-graduate from the University of Sussex, who has been teaching in Year 3. He led his class in a Spanish song during Good Work assembly and will be remembered for his Elvis Presley impersonation in last term's staff variety show.

Lewes Castle

Year 3 visited Lewes Castle today. Photos from the visit will be uploaded shortly.
Year 6 have now completed their Science and English tests, with just the maths tests remaining.

Displays

Take a look at our current hall displays...

Mr Russell delivered his annual refresher course on resuscitation techniques at this evening's taff meeting.

Two American students, Miss Andrea Thompson and Miss Sarah Soltis, who have been teaching in Y4 for several weeks, began their final week of teaching at Hawkes Farm, before returning to the University of Illinois.

Touch Rugby

Miss Thomas was out of school for the morning attending ICT training.

Selected children from Years 5 & 6 went to a Touch Rugby event at HCC after school.

Cricket Victory

The school cricket team, captained this year by Hayleigh, began the season's match fixtures with a 13 run victory over Grovelands on home ground.

There was a full meeeting of the Governors at 5pm
