Mrs Jo Vickers, who is retiring after more than 25 years at Hawkes Farm, was presented with her leaving gifts in a special assembly on Wednesday. Find out why one of her presents was a soft gel saddle by watching this movieclip.

Yesterday, (the children's last day), there was a special Leavers' Assembly. All those moving on to secondary school were wished well and encouraged to be brave and make the first effort when making new friends. Mrs Cobb's theme was 'smile' - give a smile and get a smile back.
Miss Carver and Miss Hines, both leaving for promotion to leadership posts in other schools, were presented with their leaving gifts. Together with Mrs Vickers they had (on Wednesday) presented the school with a didgeridoo.

The Y6 children spent much of the day getting their tops signed in the traditional manner.
Today was an INSET day with a BBQ lunch and short game of stoolball in the afternoon (watched by various children from their bedroom windows and back gardens).
Children visited their new classes yesterday afternoon. Our three new teachers were in school for the occasion, and stayed on for Open Evening at the end of the day.
Today, Y6 children have their Leavers' Party from 6 - 8pm.

There was a meeting for the parents of next year's Reception classes at 7pm.
The school cricket team travelled to the County Ground to compete in the Grand Finals of the 2005 Davies & Tate Kwik Cricket Tournament. A number of parents helped with transport and stayed to lend their support.
The weather remained fair (until a downpour interrupted the presentations) but the team, although competing strongly to the end, were unable to rediscover the fine form they had displayed at both the regional Davies & Tate rounds and the Herstmonceux Tournament. Indeed, Tollgate, the team Hawkes Farm had beaten in the finals at Herstmonceux, defeated us today in the opening game, and went on to be the outright winners.
The subject of today's staff meeting was writing assessment. It was led by Jan McLean, who had led the previous literacy staff meeting on spelling two weeks ago.
During the meeting there was a heavy storm with overhead thunder and lightning.
Mr R Fuller is spending the week in school, prior to embarking on a PGCE course in the autumn.
The swimming pool was closed on Friday and has not yet reopened.
Yesterday Miss Carver accompanied the school's team to the annual swimming gala, where we came second. Later in the evening she and Mr Lowe went with a team of four children to a challenging Maths event held at Grovelands.
Children took home their annual reports today. We are still awaiting a full set of KS2 Test Results and so this information could not yet be included with Y6 reports.
