The Friends of Hawkes Farm held their AGM on Wednesday. Thanks were given to the outgoing Chair, Karen Sellens, who has maintained the organisation's excellent reputation for fundraising over the past two years.
A new team of Chair and Vice-Chairs was established.
Mrs Stockdale led last night's staff meeting, seeking teachers' views on the way we currently deliver Sex Education as part of the PSHE policy, prior to a full review of the scheme of work. Any changes made to the Sex Education policy have to be approved by Governors before they can be implemented.

Michele Eaton, Manager of the Schools Library Service, accompanied by Mary Page and Mary Gregory, came to discuss various aspects of the new East Susssex Primary Schools Book Award with Mr Thorn.
A longlist of titles has already been drawn up, from which a shortlist of six titles will be selected at the end of October. Participating schools will then read the books and the voting process will take place some time in the new year.
Teaching Assistants received guidance on supporting children with spelling at their weekly training session. The training was provided by Jan McLean.
After school Mrs Hughes, the school's curriculum ICT Leader, provided staff with training in the use of interactive whiteboards, in the first of a series of sessions.
The photographers were in school today, taking individual and family photos.
There was no staff meeting today. This week's meeting will take place on Thursday.
Mr Lowe, Miss Bond and Miss McBride were all our of school today attending training courses.

Claire Morley of the public libraries service presented certificates in both Monday morning assemblies to all those children who had completed the Reading Voyage (an annual public library promotion) during the summer holiday.
Mr Mike Pashler, the new Chair of Governors, was in school on Tuesday, visiting Y3 and speaking with Mrs Hughes about ICT.

This afternoon we had the first Good Work Assemblies of the new school year.
This term we are experimenting by mixing up the yeargroups, rather than having each keystage in separate halls.
14C Showery
School re-opened to staff on Friday September 2nd. Three new teachers were welcomed:
Mr J Goatley (Year 6)
Miss R Dean (Year 5)
Mrs J Mans (Year 2)
Miss C Griggs, who has enrolled with the Graduate Teacher Programme and will be working alongside Mis McBride in Year 3, was also welcomed.
Monday 5th September was an inset day (with all staff receiving training in Child Protection). Children returned to school Tuesday 6th September.
During the holiday the Reception Area had been refurbished and new toilets installed in Years 1 and 2. This work continued right up to the children's return.
Eight further interactive whiteboards were also installed during the holiday, which means that ALL our classrooms are now fully equipped in this regard.
All Teaching Assistants met together on Tuesday 13th September for the first of what will now be weekly meetings.
