The school said goodbye to Mrs Sullivan in the end-of-term Easter Assembly this morning. Mrs Sullivan has decided to take a break from teaching to look after her young child.
Mr Thorn attended a South East Grid for Learning 'Learning Platform' event in Crawley.
The new sports wall and nets saw a day of action today, with PE co-ordinator, Miss Graves, leading a number of classes in activities using the lane feature provided by the netting. On hand was Mr T Tapp, instrumental in the fundraising for the 'wall' and in its installation.




Miss McBride's class said farewell to Miss H. Riddell today. Miss Riddell has spent the months since Christmas at Hawkes Farm, gaining experience teaching in both KS1 and KS2. She is now returning ot her base school, Chiddingly, to complete her training in the Graduate Teacher Programme.

Everybody who watched the Y3/4 production (performed in the afternoon
and evening on Thursday March 23rd) agreed that standards of singing
and acting were both superb. It was greatly enjoyed by all. Well done
to both yeargroups.
The school netball team won the local tournament held here at Hawkes Farm on Wednesday March 22nd. This means that we hold both the netball and football trophies concurrently, a great achievement!
Mr Thorn was out of school on Tuesday March 21st assisting with interviews for the county 'pool' - a list of newly-qualified teachers appointed by the LEA for eventual placement in individual schools.
The school football team won the local football tournament on Wednesday 15th March and retained the cup. Indeed the school has won the football trophy so consistently in recent seasons, it's becoming hard to remember the last time Hawkes Farm didn't win this event!
Year 6 visited Newhaven Fort today. Children dresssed as evacuees, while members of staff came to school in 1940s style clothes. (Look out for pictures of the visit on the website.)
Parent Evenings took place on Tuesday (28 Feb) and Thursday (2 Mar) last week. The girls' football team played Whitehouse on Wednesday 1st March, and lost 1-0.
An Usborne Book Sale was held in school on World Book Day.
Mr Thorn attended a NACE lecture given by an American expert on Gifted & Talented education - professor Barbara Clark - in London on Monday March 6th.
Teaching assistants and teachers in Y1 and Y2 received Blitz training from Carol Price on Tuesday March 7th.
Mrs Cobb, Mrs Gent and Miss McBride visited Ridgeway primary School in Croydon on Wednesday March 8th.
On the same day Mr Lowe took a team and some spectators to the annual Rotary Quiz, held this year at Grovelands. Our team did really well, and came second, losing by just one point.
