Defeated By Little Common

The cricket team travelled to Little Common again, this time to play them in the 11-a-side knockout. Little Common batted first and had a great start with a century opening partnership. They scored over 130 in their 20 overs.
We had heard at the start of the game that Little Common won the East Sussex Davies & tate competition, went on to win the regional round and are in the national final to be held at Trent Bridge, and we knew from experience that they have a very strong bowling attack this year. But our team batted very sensibly and made a game of it, scoring 75 runs before being bowled out.
We wish Little Common well at Trent Bridge.

Herstmonceux Tournament

The cricket team spent the day at Herstmonceux taking part in the annual tournament organised by John Woodford, the cricket coach.

Our team included two youung up-and-coming players - Chris from Y3 and David from Y1. It's the first time that anybody from KS1 has played competitive cricket for the school.

In the past we have won this tournament several times, and were the cup-holders for the past two consecutive years. This year the cup passed to Willingdon who beat Tollgate in the final.

We had lost to Tollgate in the first match of the day. It was the only game in which our side did not play consistently well. After that, they won every game with ease, including the 3rd place play-off against Herstmonceux A.
