Mr 'Mike' Procter, school caretaker for the past 10 years, retires at the end of this week. He was given a warm sendoff in the final assembly of term yesterday. After being presented with a garden lounger and cards designed by all the yeargroups in the school, he was treated to a rendition of the song 'Tragedy', especially adapted by the school's music director, Kerensa Porter.
Mike Paschler, chair of the Governors, and Melanie Izon, chair of the Friends of Hawkes Farm, both paid tribute to Mr Procter's conscientious work.
Earlier in the assembly Teaching Assistants were presented with certificates for completing a training course earlier in the year.
In the afternoon Mr Thorn attended a meeting of the Learning Platform Group, which discussed the conference recently attended by Dee Hughes, and possible ways forward. Two documents hot off the press from SEGfL - one directed at local authorities, the other at schools - were circulated.
KS2 children had their Christmas parties this afternoon.

We're back! For a while it looked as if we were gone forever, with all previous blogbook entries held irretrievably in a mangled database.
But a lot of time and the odd stroke of fortune (to make up for the many blows of misfortune) have got things working again.
No attempt will be made to back-blog the missing term, I'm afraid. So autumn 2006 will remain undocumented here. For the record you can always refer to the monthly newsletters.
In the meantime, we're into the last full week of term, with the infant nativities already performed and the KS2 Carol Service at St Mary's church coming up tomorrow.
