East Sussex Book Awards...

At Book Group the children were asked to help judge the East Sussex Book award. This meant they had to read 5 shortlisted books- Spirit walker :) , Hitlers Canary :( , Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief :D , The Unluckiest Boy in the World :) , & The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips :D -
The East Sussex Book Award ceremony is coming up and Hawkes Farm school will be holding it, with the winning author possibly visiting, presentations, biscuits..., games, drama, and more...( well, that's what happened last year).

If you would like to read one of the books all five of the shortlisted books are on display in the school libary, when your next down there pick them up and have a look. Hitler's Canary is sooooooooo boring- just my view - so don't bother to pick it up! , the other shortlisted books are good, especially Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, that rules!( It got my vote)

Manchester United

Manchester United have once again lifted up the premiership trophy and return it back into the rightful hands at Old Trafford. Unfortunately Manchester Utd lost their last game of the season to West Ham. Many complaints have been debated about the illegally transfered Carlos Tevez. The club was fined 5million pounds but premiership clubs in threat of relegation are enraged that points where not deducted. Manchester Utd have won the premiership 11 times so Old Trafford is used to holding upon the trophy stand. A recent unfortunate event for Manchester Utd took place on the weekend when Chelsea played them at the new Wembly on Saturday. The game was a little disapointing seen as it was the first Wembly FA cup final the game ended 0-0. But the second half of extra time saw Chelsea score a well worked goal. That was enough for Chelsea to win it and Manchester United went home empty handed. But hopefully better things and more trophys will come in the future for Manchester United.

Prince Harry not going to Iraq

Britains PRINCE HARRY has been informed that he will not be going to Iraq. The head of the British Army had cited the threat not only for the princes safety, but also for those around him. Gen. Sir Richard Dannattm declared in a statement ``There have been a number of specific threats, some reported, and some not reported, which relate directly to Prince Harry as an individual. These threats place not only him but also those around him in a degree of risk that I now deem unacceptable." Military sevice clearly felt that Prince Harry was trained and felt confident to face Iraq. However, Prince Harry's military career may not be over... What do you think? Have you ever wanted to do motorcross ?

Motor cross is a very fun sport even though it costs quite alot to start. People come and watch and support who ever they want. If you did start you would have to be prepared to give up your Sundays. There are two different clubs you can join for a minimum of 40 pounds (for a member). One of the clubs is called MID - SUSSEX and the other is called GEST. Also if you did start to do motor cross you would have the excitement of riding a motor cross bike. Don't forget that when you are racing there will be other contenders as well as just you. Moreover if you start and ride two days in a row you would get a trophy for just taking part. Also if you come first in a 1 day race you will get a trophy at the end of the day.

The missing girl

In Portugal a young girl ( 3 when she went missing) was taken from her holiday park on the 2nd May 2007. The girl's parents were having dinner in the parks restrant. Although they checked on their 2 children ( their other child was younger) at around 10:00pm the oldest child was snatched from her holiday home. The person who took the young girl left no trace that he/she had been there.

If any one knows anything about the young girl/ or has seen her PLEASE contact your nearest police station as soon as possible!!!

Madeleine McCann's disappearance

Police are currently investigating the disappearance of a four-year-old British girl from a Portuguese holiday resort. Officers say that she was abducted from her hotel room and believe that she may still be alive.Young Madeliene McCann was taken away while her mother and father were having dinner at the local restaurant. They were all staying at an apartment in Praia du Luz when she was taken. Her family are in despair and have asked everyone to pray for their young girl. Police have suspected a few people such as a man who lived nearby but have released him as he did not have anything to do with it.

Mr McCann, with his wife at his side, read out an emotional statement outside the holiday apartments on Friday evening.
"We cannot describe the anguish and despair we are feeling as parents of our beautiful daughter Madeleine," he said.
"We request that anyone with any information relating to Madeleine's disappearance, no matter how trivial, contact the Portuguese police and help us get her back safely."
She has now been missing for over 2 weeks but there is still hope of finding her.
