1 Thank You!
Many thanks for the fantastic response to the FOHF Summer Fayre. You could
of course say that traditionally this is always a great success, but Saturday
last was truly record breaking with well over 700 people in attendance
and well over £3,500 raised.
Special thanks must go to Mike Pashler and members of the committee who
worked so hard to organise such a wonderful afternoon. Thanks also to
the Park School of Dancing and the school Judo Club for their brilliant
displays and to the Heathfield Silver Band for providing a musical backdrop
to the whole proceedings. We're grateful to everyone for their generosity
and none more so than the winner of the Grand Draw who so kindly donated
a significant portion of the £100 cash prize to the school.
2
Six Term Year
This is something which the School Council members will shortly be debating
back in their classes. Remember, the proposal is something that will affect
everyone in some way, so do ensure you have your say by completing the
questionnaires.
3
Governor Elections
Parent governors are elected to serve for four years and the next election
will take place in September
- more details to follow. In the meantime, if you'd like to become a Governor
and would like to find out more, do contact the school for information.
4
Road Safety
Cycle training begins very shortly for pupils in Year 6. In September,
pupils in Year 1 (ie, those in Reception now) will be embarking on a programme
of pedestrian training organised by East Sussex County Council. However,
this will require substantial numbers of parent helpers. Training will
be provided and you'll be able to find out more at a coffee morning booked
for 17th September. Even if your child is not in Year 1 and you'd like
to join in - make a note of the date. We shall also be running a programme
from November to February for any parent who'd like to help in school
- details to follow.
5
Reports - Open Evening
Reports will be coming out to you on 7th July. Considerable time goes
into writing them and we hope you find them useful. Please make sure you
acknowledge receipt of the report by completing the return slip. There
will be a chance to discuss the report and meet your child's new teacher
at our Open Evening from 3.30 - 5.45 on Monday, 14th July
6
Inspection
School Inspectors will be with us in September. As always they will want
to involve you in the process and you'll be hearing about that in due
course.
7
Holiday Reading
The Assistant Head of the Library Service (who is also a Governor of Hawkes
Farm) has flagged up two Summer Fun Days which will include craft activities,
games and competitions, and the National Summer Reading Challenge. The
events take place at
at Pevensey Castle on 30th July and at Bodiam Castle on 6th August. Full
details are available at Hailsham Library.
8
Prompt Start
A number of children are arriving late in the mornings, which is neither
good for them nor the rest of the class. Please try to ensure your child
arrives in good time for a prompt start at 8.55 am.
We look
forward to seeing you at our Sports Days next week.
