NEWSLETTER Nov 2004
Welcome
back to one of our busiest half-terms. I hope that many of you will
be able to attend our Christmas events this year.
1 HARVEST FESTIVAL
Thank you for your support at our Harvest Festival this year. I would
like to thank the children for their wonderful singing and Rev. Tomalin
for his contributions. We raised the sum of £270 for Christian
Aid, which was an increase on last year. The food contributions went
to Grangemead which was delivered by some of the children from the
School Council. We received a lovely thank you letter from Grangemead.
2
CHILDREN IN NEED – 19TH
NOVEMBER
We would like to support Children in Need this year by asking all children
to bring in a “handful” of small change on 19th November.
We will then cover ‘Pudsey Bear’ in the school hall/playground
as part of the event.
3
PARENTS’ EVENING
We had an excellent turnout this year. Thank you for attending the consultation
evening. There will be another opportunity to speak to your child’s
teacher next term. If you do have any further questions or concerns,
please let your child’s teacher know.
4 PARENT GOVERNOR
We will soon be sending out nomination letters for a new Parent Governor
to join the Governing Body of Hawkes Farm in January, 2005. Please
do take some time to consider the availability of this post. If you
have any questions, please come and speak to myself or let the office
know and we will put one of our current Parent Governors in contact with
you.
5 CELEBRATIONS
a) The Hawkes Farm Football Team won the local schools’ tournament.
Congratulations to them as this is their second year in a row.
b) Nick Buckfield – Great Britain Pole Vault. We had a fantastic
morning when Nick joined us to celebrate the school’s Activemark
Gold Award. Nick talked to the children (Yr 2 – Yr 6) and then
took Year 6 for a warm up and gymnastic coaching session.

7 CHRISTMAS SHOW
We have been able to book a Christmas Show to visit the school in December
for all the children. The Infants will watch the “Three Little
Pigs” and the Juniors will see “George and the Dragon”.
To allow
this to happen we would like to ask for a voluntary contribution of £1.50 per child or £2.00
per family towards the costs. We hope this will prove very successful
and provide all the children
with the opportunity to see a Theatre Production.
Please
send contributions in an envelope marked “Christmas Production” with
the name of your child/ren and their class by Friday, 19th November.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you at
our Christmas Events.
Yours sincerely
Mrs V Cobb
