1 SPORTS DAY DATES

Please note the change of date for the Junior back-up date:

Infant Sports Day – 23rd June pm
Infant Sports Day (back-up) – 24th June pm
Junior Sports Day – 28th June 10.30am start)
Junior Sports Day (back-up) - 7th July 10.30am start

The Infant Sports Day takes place during the afternoon. The children are all involved in circuit sports followed by some races on the track.

The Junior Sports Day starts at 10.30am and lasts for the whole day. There is a break at lunchtime. Please bring a packed lunch if you are joining us for the whole day. The Junior Sports consists of circuit sports and track events. Children are put into teams for the days’ events.

2 CRICKET EQUIPMENT

The cricket club received a generous sponsorship cheque from UNISON to purchase new cricket equipment. Mr Carpenter from UNISON came and presented the equipment to
the cricket teams and Mr Thorn. Thank you one of our parents, Mr Ottley for his support in achieving the funds for the school.

3 STAFF CHANGES

We will be saying good-bye to the following staff at the end of this term. We wish them all the best for the future and thank them for all their valuable contributions over the years.

a) Mrs Jo Vickers – currently a Year 1 teacher – retiring.
Miss Sarah Hines – currently a Year 2 teacher – Infant Team teacher at St Peter’s School, Henfield, West Sussex
Miss Sharon Carver – currently Year 6 teacher – Year 5/6 Team Leader at Greville School, Ashstead, Surrey.
b) Mrs Hannah Sullivan – currently Year 5 teacher – will be on Maternity Leave from June. Her class will be taught by Mrs Round for the remainder of the summer term.

4 GET FIT KIDS – GYMNASTICS DAY

As part of our Healthy Schools status we are holding a sponsored Gymnastics Day on Tuesday, 14th June. One of the top British Gymnasts, Glen Smith will be in school all day working with the children as part of the special event. He will give a talk and demonstration at the end of the day. More information and sponsor forms will be sent home nearer the date.

5 VOUCHERS

Thank you for all your vouchers. They have been coming in ‘thick and fast’ over the last few weeks. We are very pleased with the huge numbers we have counted and look forward to some new equipment. Please keep sending them in.

6 SWIMMING

You will have received the details for swimming which starts after half-term. A reminder that swimming hats will be on sale in the infant playground from 8.45am on:

- Friday, 20th May
- Tuesday, 24th May
- Friday, 27th May

Children must use the “rubber” verruca socks (available from most chemists) if necessary. Also, one piece costumes only – no bikinis.

7 FRIENDS OF HAWKES FARM

Thank you to the committee for a fun evening at the Music Quiz Night earlier this term. It was well attended by parents, children and staff. A great evening was had by all.

A reminder that the Summer Fayre will be on Saturday, 18th June. It is a huge event with stalls for everyone. I look forward to seeing you all at this fantastic event.

8 NEW RECEPTION FOR SEPTEMBER ‘05

Later this term we will be holding open afternoons for the new reception children who will be joining us in September, and an evening meeting for their parents. Letters have been sent out to all concerned. If you have any queries regarding new admissions, please contact the school office.

9 ART WEEK

We will be having an Art Week from Monday, 23rd May. Two artists will be working with children in Key Stage 2 during the week. All classes will be involved in various creative activities. If you would like to get involved, please do let me know.

10 DOGS

No dogs are allowed on to the school site. Thank you.
