Dear Parents

Thank you for returning your “School Travel Plan” questionnaire. We had a huge number of returns from parents, therefore it will take a while to go through all the responses. Once the draft plan is drawn up, I will let you know the scheme’s priorities.

1 VACANCY – SCHOOL CLEANER
We have a vacancy for a school cleaner for 2 hours each day (3.30 – 5.30 pm). If you are interested, please collect an application form from the office.

Closing date 24th November.
Start date 1st December.

2 PARENT GOVERNORS
[an attachment was sent out with the hard copy - if you did not receive yours, ask in the office]

3 LOST PROPERTY
We have gathered a lot of lost school uniform since the beginning of term. We have over 30 jumpers in the junior box with no names in them. Please do make sure that your child’s clothes are labelled, and check when you wash their school sweatshirts that they have indeed brought home their own sweatshirt after a PE session! Thank you.

4 CAR PARKING
This is an area that does cause problems at the beginning and end of the school day. Union Hall staff have asked again, to request that parents do not use their car park as it is needed for their parents dropping children off to playgroup.

5 FOOTBALL CLUB
For yet another year running, our Year 6 Football team have won the Hailsham Football Tournament and brought the cup back. Well done to the team and the football coaches.

6 JUNIOR PLAYGROUND
During the October holiday a sports wall was erected on the junior playground. This was funded by Hailsham Youth Sports. We are the first school in Hailsham to receive the funding and take on the new initiatives. If you do get to see this wall, the colours represent:

Blue – Sky Green – Tennis Net
White – Football posts Brown - Cricket stumps

We hope to be able to purchase more sports equipment, so that children can practise their skills. Thank you to Mr Tony Tack who has organised the Sports Wall and to the members of Hailsham Youth Sports for agreeing to fund the project.

7 PARENTS’ EVENING
We had a excellent turnout this year. There will be another opportunity to speak to your child’s teacher next term. If your child is in Year 6 and you missed the evening meeting about next year’s National Test, we still have a few revision books for sale. Please do see one of the Year 6 teachers. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your child’s education, please let your child’s classteacher know.

New Homework Policy leaflets were given out at the Parents’ Evening with a useful list of websites to support your child’s learning. Please see your child’s teacher if you would like a copy.

8 THE QUICKEN TRUST
The Quicken Trust have organised for some children from Kabubba Primary School to visit Hailsham in December. They will be visiting Hawkes Farm on 16th December. To support the Quicken Trust with this sponsorship, all our raised funds from the Christmas shows will be presented as a cheque to them during their visit to the school.

Last year we supported The Salvation Army and the funds were used for the Tsunami Appeal. All contributions will be very welcomed and will make a huge difference to the education and lives of those in Africa.

9 MUFTI DAY
The School Council will be supporting the Anti-bullying week with a Mufti Blue Day on Friday, 25th November. This will be a national blue day to finish the week of activities linked to personal, social, health, emotional and citizenship education (PSHE/Citizenship). If your child would like to take part, they will need to wear something blue. We are asking for contributions of 50p to take part. The School Council have decided that half the funds will go to Children in Need and the remainder will be used for ‘playtime’ activities, etc.
