Dear Parents
Welcome
back to Term 6. Could I remind you all that the last day for children
this term will be Tuesday, 24th July.
1 FRIENDS
OF HAWKES FARM
The Friends of Hawkes Farm have been very busy preparing for this year’s
Summer Fair. This will take place on Saturday, 16th June, 2007 (1.00–4.00pm).
If you are able to help with a stall (even for 30 mins – 1 hour)
please could you leave your details at the main office for the attention
of Melanie Izon (Chair). We look forward to seeing children, parents and
friends of the school at this year’s Summer Fair.
2 MUFTI-DAY
– ‘Summer Theme’
This term’s mufti-day will support the Summer Fair fundraising events.
This will take place on Friday, 15th June. Children can come along dressed
in summer clothes. If children would like to take part, we ask for a contribution
gift towards the tombola stall.
3 SCHOOL
UNIFORM
A reminder of the school uniform policy is attached. It is that time of
year when retailers begin to advertise “Back to School’. Last
year governors agreed to uphold the ‘grey’ for trousers /
shorts and skirts / pinafores. PE kit is plain black shorts and a white
t-shirt / polo shirt. The tops can be purchased from the school.
4 SWIMMING
Please keep updated by looking at the blackboards positioned at the Infant
/ Junior entrances (as well as Infant year group windows) to see when
swimming will begin this term. We do apologise for the delay.

3.30 – 5.00pm. Please do come in during this time with your child
to see where they will be next year.

7 TERM-TIME
HOLIDAYS / ABSENCES
May I remind all parents that any planned absence from school (with the
exception of medical appointments) needs reporting to the School Office
on the official form. At least 10 days notice is required for term-time
holiday requests. A reminder that we do not authorise holiday requests
in term time. Term dates are attached – please keep these safe!
8 AWARD
Once again we have been recognised for our achievements. We have achieved
the Healthy Schools Award for the second time. This recognises the schools
efforts to care for the well-being of each child and to promote a healthy
life. Congratulations to the Healthy Schools Team led by Miss Amy Graves
for their hard work in coordinating the activities throughout the school.
At Hawkes
Farm we are well known for the high quality of provision for the Arts
(music, art, drama and dance). We have been awarded the Artsmark Gold
Award in recognition of the quality of provision and opportunities that
we make available to the children. Congratulations to the Arts Team led
by Mrs Michelle Harley who worked very hard to put together the evidence
so that the school can celebrate its successes.
9 SCHOOL
DINNERS
A reminder that school dinners are now £1.60. If your child owes
dinner money, we would appreciate it being returned to the School Office

11 UNIFORM
All pupils are expected to wear school uniform. The school colours are
bottle-green and white and the uniform consists of the following:-
- Girls: Grey skirt/pinafore/trousers, white or green blouse/polo shirt,
green cardigan/sweatshirt and/or fleece.
- Boys: Grey shorts/trousers, white or green shirt or polo shirt, green
pullover/sweatshirt and/or fleece. (Most of these items are obtainable
from multiple chain stores.) Jeans, ski pants, leggings and cropped trousers
are not considered suitable school wear! Skirts should be approximately
knee length.
Footwear
must be black in colour, suitable and safe. Shoes with anything other
than flat heels are not permitted. (Plain, all black trainers below the
ankle are permitted.)
School sweatshirts
in bottle-green with the school badge embroidered on are available from
the school from £8.00. Cardigans are also available priced from
£9.50 and green or white polo shirts with the school badge embroidered
cost £7.00. Bottle-Green fleeces are £10.00.
FOR PE:
For reasons of both hygiene and safety all children are expected to change
clothing for PE and games. All children require:- Black PE shorts, plimsolls,
and a school polo or plain white T-shirt (white T-shirts with the school
badge printed on the front are available from the school, priced £3.50
and may be worn for PE and Games.)
FOR WINTER
GAMES - (Years 3 to 6 only): Tracksuit and boots / trainers. (These items
need not, of course, be exactly as stated, but a change of clothing is
essential for outdoor games.)
SWIMMING
takes place during the summer months. All swimwear should be one piece
and all children are required to wear swimming hats.
BAGS:
Our cloakroom space is very limited. We therefore ask that all PE/Games
clothing is brought in a drawstring bag which can be hung from a peg.
(These are available from the school priced £3.00). Large holdall
bags are not permitted. Cloakrooms should be cleared every Friday so that
kit can be washed.
ALL CLOTHING
SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED PLEASE.
If an item
of clothing is lost, please check lost property boxes in the first instance.
We are constantly amazed by the vast quantity of property which is never
claimed. Lost property is displayed at the end of each term.
Jewellery
may not be worn in school. The only exceptions are watches, and studs
for pierced ears.
May I take this opportunity to thank you once again for your support throughout
the year.

12 FoHF NEWS - June 2007
Summer Fete
- Saturday 16th June
Thanks to
all those who have offered their help to support our biggest fund-raising
event of the year. We truly appreciate your volunteering.
We would
love to see everyone attend our event. We have tug of war and giant slide
inflatables, plants, The Body Shop, Freedom Leisure and a mini ten pin
bowling game with lots of freebies, freshly picked strawberries and games
and tombolas to amuse children and parents alike! The display ring, will
have the children showing off their skills at dancing, judo and playing
the cello.
Don’t
forget your flower pot donation, at least 3 prizes are on offer for best
entries. If you are able to donate any contribution towards our raffle
or tombola displays, or homemade cakes and biscuits or good quality toys,
CDs, Videos and books for our other stalls, this would be gratefully received.
Could you drop off your items via the school office from Monday 11th June.
We are still
raising funds for the school’s ICT. Government fundings are not
enough to complete the second ICT suite that the school have started to
build. Our funds are needed for the completions.
Please sell,
sell, sell and return your raffle tickets. Lots of brilliant prizes are
to be had - the list is never-ending; the more you can sell the more we
can raise for the school
Tuesday 26th June – Refreshments at lunchtime for Juniors’
Sport day
Recycling of mobiles and printer cartridges – Please keep on bringing
in your empty/broken and unwanted items into school and dropping them
off into the recycling boxes provided at the main entrance. Your old stuff
recycled is worth pounds to support our school!
Yellow Moon catalogues – purchases can be made at any time up until
August. Order from it now or keep it close by for when you might like
to have a browse. Up to 25% cash back from the Yellow Moon Company is
given towards fundraising at our school! If you have mislaid your copy,
there are spares available from the school office.
Thank you for your continued support.
