Dear Parents
Everyone
is welcome to the Friends of Hawkes Farm AGM on Monday, 8th October at
3.30pm in the Junior Hall. A new Committee needs to be formed at this
meeting with a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The planned events for
this term are the Pumpkin Disco and Christmas Fair. Please do try and
come along as we desperately need your support for our annual events to
go ahead.
1 HARVEST
CELEBRATION
Our Harvest celebration this year will take place on Wednesday, 10th October.
We will be supporting our local community by taking contributions to Grangemead
Resource Centre and Hare Lodge. We will also be supporting Christian Aid
and Feed a Kid for a Quid (The Quicken Trust – see overleaf)
We would
very much welcome your contributions, and ask that the Infant children
bring in produce and the Junior children choose both / or one of the chosen
charities.
Our Harvest
celebration will be led by Reverend Stan Tomalin, the children will be
contributing with songs, poems, drama and art work. We have sent out a
special invite to Year 1 and Year 3 to join us on this occasion.
2 RECEPTION
CLASSES
The new reception children have settled in extremely well to school. They
have all benefited from the opportunity of small groups during the first
couple of weeks. As a new parent, please do come in and see us if you
have any questions or concerns. We hope that you can also attend the meeting
on Monday, 8th October and get involved in some of our fantastic events.
3 PARENTS’ EVENING
You should have received your letter last week about booking a time for
the Autumn Parents’ Evenings. The reception class always sign up
first on a noticeboard in their porch area. If you have not seen this
please ask the classteacher.
4 CELEBRATION
OF OUR SUCCESSES
Once again Hawkes Farm School is recognised for its outstanding achievements.
During last year the school achieved the following awards for its achievements
in the arts, promoting healthy lifestyle, approach to international studies
and investments in supporting staff development:
1 Artsmark Gold Award
2 Healthy Schools Award
3 Intermediate International Award
4 Investors in People Award
With the
outstanding academic results achieved at the end of Year 2 and Year 6
and the awards for a range of other opportunities, Hawkes Farm is recognised
for providing an excellent all round education for all children in a very
supportive and highly skilled environment. Thank you to all the staff
and governors who work so hard to ensure that the children receive the
very best.
REMINDER:
All children need to bring a coat to school for those chilly playtimes.
I look forward
to seeing as many of you as possible on Monday, 8th October at 3.30 pm.
Yours sincerely
Mrs V Cobb – Headteacher

Dear Parents
Feed a Kid for a Quid Campaign
We are delighted
to inform you that Hawkes Farm Primary School has decided to take part
in Quicken Trust’s fundraising campaign which could be used for
either Harvest or Christmas. We are seeking to improve the lives of many
orphaned children in a rural village of Uganda called Kabubbu. These children
only get one meal of vegetables per day and we are hoping to raise money
for a “Porridge Kitchen” so that they can have breakfast to
start the day on – possibly their only meal.
Your children
have been asked to make and decorate a DIY collection box (which we have
provided through the school) which they will bring home. Every £1
they collect in this box provides porridge for a child in Kabubbu for
a month. We would like to assure you that 100% of monies collected will
be used in full in Kabubbu as our administration costs are separately
funded.
We would
like to thank you for your kind co-operation and encouragement of your
children taking part in this much needed project.
